The mission of the Trumpet
Golf Alliance is to improve the quality of people's lives through sharing
our two most passionate activities : Trumpet Playing and Golf.
The Trumpet Golf Alliance 2005 Golf
Classic will help us achieve this mission. Part of the
proceeds will go towards Scholarships for young players through
Friends Of Big Band Jazz.
Rich Szabo & Mike Vax
Mike Vax is an International Artist for Getzen. Mr. Vax performs exclusively on Getzen trumpets, cornets
and flugelhorns. He has played lead and solo trumpet with the Stan Kenton
Orchestra, the Clark Terry Big Bad Band, and the U.S. Navy Show Band.
Mike has also performed and/or recorded with such greats as Art Pepper, Al
Grey, Freddy Hubbard, John Handy, Don Ellis, Don Jacoby, Louie Bellson, Joe
Williams, Anita O’Day, June Christy, Barbara McNair, the Four Freshmen,
The Glenn Miller and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras, the Beverly Hills Unlisted
Jazz Band, and the Dukes of Dixieland in New Orleans.
Currently he is leading his own groups: The Mike Vax Jazz Orchestra, The
Mike Vax Big Band (featuring alumni of the Stan Kenton Orchestra), the Great
American Jazz Band, TRPTS (Trumpets), and the Mike Vax Quintette and Sextette.

Rich Szabo is an International Clinician as well as partner of
Chicago Brass Works. The fiery
trumpet star began studying his instrument at the age of nine. As a teenager
he dreamed of playing with his idol, Maynard Ferguson. Upon his completion
of his musical studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rich's dream was
fulfilled when he was asked to join the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra.
After serving his internship with Maynard, Rich went back to his home in
the New York City Metro Area and assembled some of the finest musicians to
create one of the most exciting big bands in the country today.
Rich and the band have been playing to sold out audiences across the country.
Whether it be a concert, dance or intimate jazz room, Rich Szabo will knock
you out!
Rich has played in the bands of Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Ray Anthony,
Billy May, Tito Puente, Larry Elgart, Sammy Kaye, Xavier Cugat, Sonny Costanzo,
Buddy Childers, Charli Persip, Charlie Ventura, New Jersey Pops and can be
seen and heard on PBS playing lead trumpet with Guy Lombardo's Royal Canadians.
He has had the honor of playing at two Presidential Inaugurals and is listed
in Who's Who In Music, Who's Who In Entertainment and Who's Who
In America.
